Good for the soul?

McDonalds' sign in Harlem.

A friend of mine recently pounced on a few of her friends virtually for “liking” McDonald’s on Facebook. You have probably seen the notifications, they are little advertisements brought to you by what your friends have clicked and liked. In this case it was junk food. Processed, factory made, cheap, chemically reduced and altered “meat product” sugars, fats, preservatives. Yes, you know my stance on this one.

The interesting thing is the comments, specifically one of those caught by the health and nutrition maven said, “…but, it’s good for the soul.” Continue reading

Excerpt: Personal Power Through Awareness.

As you sit quietly and ask to see what lies ahead for you in a certain area of your life, thinking of a decision you want to make or a path you want more information about, bits and pieces of information should begin coming to you. Your intent to know the future sends your mind out to that future time, and it will bring data back to you. Sometimes information comes as a vague feeling, such as a feeling of joy or discomfort. Do not hold expectations of what you will experience. It is also important not to judge your initial attempts, but to simply let any impressions come in.

Tarot Cycle: The Empress, April 21 – May 21, 2012

The Empress

The fourth card in the Tarot Cycle becomes the Empress. She is a powerful heraldress of the earth’s primal energies forming, full and ready for birth. She is the Mother, nurturing, germinating, fecund, full and pregnant with possibility. She can be Venus, as her crown of stars in the Tarot signifies with the blessing of all heavenly lights, a Titan of love, beauty, and art (among other things) and yet she can also be seen as Demeter, motherly in all forms, even the mother protector as she is when her daughter is taken into the underworld. The underworld where all things break down, mulch, decay into the minerals and things that will nurture the new life (seeds of things to come) that will break the surface of the upper world one day and be life on the light side again.

This lunar cycle, turning of the wheel as we pass into Taurus, we find the Empress and she is the smiling woman of tides unseen rising up within and around us.  Continue reading

Journey Journal: Focus, Dilation and the Priestess

Image ala wiki

AH! I feel like I haven’t been able to play at Lifencompass in a long time! Meanwhile new folks have started conversations and “huzzas!” with me, and I’m working the wheel of Chi at school, tending home, keeping the flow with clients and looking over at my site calling out, “I miss you blog!” It’s amazing how a few conscious choices can change everything. Energy work doesn’t need a bang and a flash, sometimes the most subtle of intents can create the most lasting changes.

Yes, well, I have a lot to dive into here with this post, it’s been in the spiritual slow cooker all week having started on Easter and blending all the flavors of the week into the big bubbly pot that this is now. Food for thought, it is!

I begin this entry with an introduction taken from earlier posts on the Social Network Feed:

Blog Notes: Journey Journal

Tarot Cycle three is coming to a close this moon and we’re dancing with the energy of the priestess. Notes on the journey:

(1) All is Mind, The Universe is Mental and occasionally I am too.
(2) :p
(3) Perspective = Little person in vast landscape; one woman and the big moon, drawing in the light; the mystery of all things is large and small.
(4) Ideas, all ideas need room. Seeking ritual or the ecstatic to free the mind.
(5) DILATE THE MINDS EYE

Goal: The end of this meditative cycle, 2012 – The Hermit, inner light revealed “bring it back, sing it back” to the community.

Sunday afternoon we spent the day with family. It isn’t a religious observation but a true and good family gathering of food and conversation, making connections and checking in with the ones you care about. Among the many topics of conversation including 50 Shades of Grey, movies, politics and massage –oh and how great the food was!– a family friend arrived and began a more inspired discussion about consciousness, the nature of reality, and our drivers seat in it. His buoyant energy spun the fire under the mental pot and I really started to simmer.
