Welcome back.

Since my schedule is starting to clear up a teensy bit and I’ve received several inquiries for taking on some new students I decided it was time to dust off the manual and update the materials. Something old, something new, you know just a spring spruce up.

It’s been awhile since I have worked with any new students but for the most part my graduates have flown on into their own explorations.

I expect to open the doors for new students by Summer, after B and I return from Germany, around August.

********

I would like to introduce to you my teaching style of Reiki, in case you you are curious about my methods and philosophy…

I do not teach Reiki and pass an attunement in a day unless I am certain that one already has cultivated some basic tools equivalent or related to the level of energy and experience that is necessary. Even then I still prefer a period of time while you get to know the system and allow for a bit of meditation in preparation for the attunement process.

I know that there is little harm that can come from the inexperienced to the client but there is a lot that can go wrong if someone does not have the proper understanding of their own inner experience or the basics of the Reiki system.

My original Reiki Master’s, Claudia McGregor and Cheryl Coleman, used to perform what they called “Reiki Rescue”. Taking in new students who had received attunements to the Life Force Energy with little or no instruction about utilizing the energy as a force for healing. I believe, and still do, in the integrity of their work. They held themselves to a higher standard and treated each student, each human being, with respect and tailored what they knew to those that they taught. I was/am inspired by their examples and I carry on that tradition.

Each and every person who comes to learn Reiki is unique, we are all at varying levels of learning and so I know that I cannot instruct everyone in one afternoon. Some folks may already have surpassed the basic understanding about the human energy system, chakras or even know all about Reiki but not have received and attunement yet. These people (in general) tend to have quicker learning experiences and we go through the learning in a day.

Others are just entering into the passage from the mundane into the world of healing with Ki, energy, and so it can take a longer time to pick up the energy. That is generally why I have given the 1-2 week learning program via my manual. It allows for students old and new to meditate, after instruction, and get a basic feel for the energy of Reiki. It allows for reading, study and experimentation to come to an understanding about the system so that when we meet it is more a review, Q&A and attunement period.

A gradual build up to the energy of Reiki, in my opinion, always softens what some call the healing cleanse that can occur after an attunement. In that time I transmit to the student the Life Force Energy and by the time we meet, one should know if they are ready to commit to the healing practice or not.

Then, in the end, I make myself available to students (within reason) via email for follow up questions, etc for 30 days. Additional assistance falls into consultations and that I can discuss further and create the details with the student at that time.

In general if one were to want to train in 3 Degrees of Reiki with me, I separate the attunements and experience up. After a 1st Degree attunement I generally do not pass a 2nd Degree for at least 3 – 6 months and following that, I do not pass the Master Attunement until one has had at least a years worth of experience at the 2nd Degree level. The importance of the symbol work and distance healing is essential.

This timeline is my “rule of thumb” but it’s not set in stone. As I said, each person is different.

The following is my introduction to Reiki 1, the full manual will be made available to old and new students of Otherhoodlight.com (closed) and Lifencompass.org. I may edit this just a bit more but otherwise this would basically be the introduction.

Introduction: Reiki 1, Lifencompass.org

Reiki_KanjiIt’s been many years since I first received my Reiki training and in that time a lot has changed about what we know, and how I practice Reiki. When I began my path as a healer it was with stones and herbs and prayers to the Gods. Most spiritual practices can give us an introduction to healing in some form or another. My path was in the pagan and Wiccan influences, among other various instructions.

You may have been introduced to healing through prayer or meditation, or you could have been brought into it naturally, through family or an opportunity to learn with a teacher or healer. Doctors or a a nurse could have supplied us with a healing touch, awakening the compassion to heal others. Regardless, the calling is clear when one seeks to heal another.

Let us be clear in the beginning that Reiki is not “faith healing” or “prayer”. It is a system based on Tendai Buddhism, and is reminiscent of many Martial Arts Practices where one channels Ki, or Life Force Energy that is present in all things. Coming from an Asian, predominantly Japanese and Chinese influence, Reiki is the blossom of a rich history of Wu Shamanism, Taoism, Esoteric Buddhism and in the end, the enlightenment of Dr. Mikao Usui who was seeking a viable healing path.

Being and eclectic healer and witch myself, you will find that I integrate many healing practices into the work that I do. In order to help you distinguish between the Reiki tradition and the use of Reiki, the Life Force Energy, I will note the differences in the practice.

I think the most important thing to remember is that through this new introduction to healing you are embarking on a whole new level of experiencing health, wellness and the path to becoming a healer. The true path of healing is that of love, conscious living and giving unconditionally. It is not bound to traditions, though we respect these traditional means, but it springs from them as ladders, paths of elevation that lift us out of the way were are into a new realm of living. I call this path, as a healer, the development of the Healers Consciousness, and it is the blossom of the mind and spirit of the healer.

It is not just a method of healing but also the awareness of our own innate healing power and potential as well as the endless ways in which we can apply the Healers Consciousness to living in our day-to-day lives. So we can also look at this journey into a new world as an exploration of our inner world. If you haven’t already begun, you will learn some tools to help you learn and grow as a human being.

The fragrance of this blossom of consciousness is the integration of the Healers Consciousness into all aspects of your life. When cooking, breathing, writing, walking, become healing the potential of our healing capabilities is made apparent. Ultimately the fragrance is the compassionate and loving spirit that passes the healing energy without worry or ego, in any and all ways and one becomes Reiki.

Healing may happen when you place your hands on the body of another, but never forget that it is not limited to this method alone. Our thoughts, actions, words, feelings and deeds can create healing and in turn all things we create can heal. Healing can be found in our food, in our pictures and stories and in the most mundane “routine” actions of our life. It is just a matter of how our minds are directed, how open we are to seeing the way in which we can heal and not just how we are supposed to heal.

This is a manual to teach you the basics of Reiki. Within these pages you will find information on things like the nature of energy, history on the path and more, like hand positions to help you complete a full body healing session.

These are methods that are proven but not absolute. They are tools and guides for you to use as stepping-stones on your healing path. You will grow, learn new practices and integrate new means to heal. In short you will grow and change and your guide may be this manual, but remember that no book on Reiki  is absolute. Your guide should be your intuition in conjunction with your experience and the Tradition of healing. Your intuitive guide is your greatest source of information. The inner voice that connects our minds and our deepest self to our highest and most divine self.

Using our intuition we will learn to follow the soft guide of Reiki, the path that the energy flows. We will feel it pulse, flow and ebb and pulse again. These subtly felt tides of energy will be our indicators of where we heal and when the healing is complete.

You may have read it or heard it said, Reiki is like water it flows to where it is needed. You may hear that Reiki has an intelligence all of it’s own and in many senses this is true. Just as a tree grows towards light and water moves downhill, Reiki vibrates towards balance, it is the way of the Life Force Energy.

There are many different types of Reiki. What I teach is based on the Reiki tradition as I was taught, that system that ultimately stems from Dr. Mikao Usui, the founder of the Reiki tradition (not the energy itself) and is blended in areas with other teachings, paths and insights that I have found to be effective.

Reiki is healing path. The attunements you receive today are your initiation into this healing energy system. I hope that it will transform your life for the better in all ways.

If you are interested in scheduling a session or in learning Reiki, please contact me and let’s discuss.
